Pieces of a Man (aka POAM/Pieces), are a 7-piece neo-soul band, hailing from Manchester. Their mission statement is to show soul, no matter the stakes, by creating music of real character and intention. Influences include neo-soul heavyweights D’Angelo, Dwele, Robert Glasper and Jill Scott, as well as more traditional soul staples like Stevie Wonder and Gil Scott-Heron. That gives soul heads an idea of where they’re coming from, and everyone else some essential homework to do!

Pieces have recently completed recording material for Mixtape Vol.2 which you can now get your hands on at live shows, but you can also take a sneaky peek here. The year started with the band debuting a fresh, more expansive live sound at Soul Rebels (Wardrobe, Leeds) and Threshold Festival (Liverpool). Perfomances at Band on the Wall (supporting Jarrod Lawson) and Africa Oye Festival (Sefton Park, Liverpool) are among the bookings for spring/summer 2015.

Highlights to date include key support for Bilal and Omar, plus appearances at the Headlander and Threshold Festivals in 2014. Recent single ‘Paych£ck’ featured on BBC Introducing on BBC Radio Manchester, and POAM have played live on BBC Radio Merseyside’s Upfront Show.

“This mixtape serves up a grown up sound and exudes confidence and style. These guys are not messing around and are clearly passionate about spreading the soul love.” [Shazney Spence – Liverpool Live]

“This six track EP brings Funk and Soul together in it’s rawest form.” [UKB Magazine – 4/5]

“This band grooves with a vocal which will stop you in your tracks.” [Michelle Hussey – BBC Radio Manchester]
